Cookie Law
« on: May 25, 2012, 10:52:04 pm »

You may have noticed a new pop-up in the bottom right hand corner of the main website.
This has been added so that the SCWN website complies with the new EU Cookie Law that was introduced on the 26th May 2012.

If you're happy with cookies being left on your PC from SCWN and the third parties like Google then just click to say you're happy and you'll only see the green triangle in the corner of the screen from then on, or until you clear your browser cache.

You will start to see most UK websites having some for of this in the near future as there are penalties for the site owners if they don't comply with the new law.

So sorry about this but it has to be done.

After doing some testing with this, I don't think the script I've used is of much use - it doesn't stop many cookies even if you don't accept.

So I'm looking for another method at the moment and will post here if/when I find something.

A new version has been installed and is working well. No cookies are placed on a visitors browser until they agree to have them.
Sadly, to say within the law, this means that if they don't agree then they don't get access to the site. It's not the best option but it's the only one that definitely keeps the site within the law.

The good thing is that you will only see this new page once, unless you clear your browser cache, and the next time you go to the website you will go straight to the page you're looking for.
