Certainly looks as though conditions could be pretty nasty for some, if this comes off.

As of 1300 Thursday, my WxSIM has Friday just squeezing into Storm at 42-55mph SW, and Friday night a tiny bit less at 43-54mph W!
On those figures Friday afternoon looks worst down here, a bit earlier than for you.
I'm not sure when you'll be driving into work but that might be pretty 'interesting' in itself!

WXSim here is currently forecasting gusts of up to 44mph for here. (Being pedantic, this is the GFS forecast). I have noticed however, that due to the topography around here, we frequently get gusts higher than WXSim suggests and based on previous episodes of stormy weather, I would not be surprised to see gusts of 70mph or so in my locality.....

Well at least the causeway will be open this time as high water is well after we head to work.
WXsim currently has the worst of it here on Friday afternoon/evening, with the winds easing after midnight.

Latest NMM model suggests the worst of the winds will be a little further to the north, but Lewis and Orkney still look as though they are in line for a pasting, with high winds over much of Scotland...
The model is certainly looking scary.......
http://www.xcweather.co.uk/ is suggesting winds of 63mph for Stornoway.

Netweather's forecast is giving Stornoway gusts upto 78mph for around 1800 tomorow, that'll make it fun trying to get to work!!
And that's set ot continue until well into the early hours of Saturday morning.

Look at K5 buoy forecast on XC weather its saying 70mph wind wonder what the gust will be. Actually I have never seen it turn to a red arrow for gusting conditions maybe it doesn't support that sort of data.

Looking forward to this
XC giving 61mph for here (well, wick which is more sheltered from the west than here lol) and 63mph for kirkwall in orkney (again fairly sheltered from the west).
Never seen any of you say about http://theyr.tv/cg/cna/I2fdcb3/F=js*L=en*v*081202*10*SCO*scot_Edinburgh , it doesn't go far out but pretty accurate i've found.
Looking forward to sunday too! it'll be a change to get battered a bit in almost daylight hours lol

Have never seen that link before, Paula. Certainly looks pretty rough on that too. I think that is using NMM forecast data too, although I may be wrong. Looks like you may get a pasting up in Scrabster too!

I see the UKMO haven't bothered, even though they are forecasting 70mph for Stornoway during Friday.
I guess we're populated enough to warrent a warning or they figure we're used to it.

Its the same on the main BBC weather this morning, barely a mention even though they reckon it could be 70-80mph up here later on. Now if this was affecting Glasgow or Edinburgh......
